Our daily news is full of discussions about rising oceans, loss of life from natural disasters, related costs in terms of money and disruption of human affairs, as well as dire warnings for the future. This is not the first time humans have faced severe climate change. Historically, we have periods such as “The Long Summer” and “The Little Ice Age” because of climate disruptions. What caused these disruptions? How did they affect the human condition? Can we learn anything from these historical events that we can apply to our current situation? Presentations may range from historical weather events to our current extreme weather to what we might expect in the future and what we can do about it.
