BIRD CLUB: JUNE 2023 To get us up and running, Connie Sparks led a group of SAGE Birders on a three-mile, four-hour walk to view birds in Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve. The 225-acre Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve today is one of the finest refuges of its kind within a major urban area in the country. We saw cormorants, yellow chats, spectacular red-wing blackbirds, vultures, yellow orioles, five parakeets and an amazing display of California flowers. A guide from the Audubon Society led the walk and helped us identify various birds by attributes and sounds.
